The Complete Guide: How to Accurately Measure Every Part of Your Body by Yourself.
How to Measure?
Shoulder
For enhanced precision in taking measurements, it may be advisable to solicit assistance from another person. Span a tape measure across your upper back, from the extremity of one shoulder to that of the other. It is imperative to maintain an upright posture and refrain from slouching to ensure the accuracy of the measurements.
Upper Bust
Obtain a measurement encircling your entire torso, particularly positioned slightly above your bust line. It is critical to ensure the tape measure is fitting closely, yet not overly constricting.
Bust
Donning your usual bra and with arms comfortably at your sides, measure the peak breadth of your bust. The tape should cross both nipples, run under the armholes, over the shoulder blades, and encase your back roughly at the level of your bra strap. Maintaining the tape level with the ground during this process is essential for an accurate measurement.
Under Bust
To measure your under bust, wrap the measuring tape all the way around your torso, positioning it directly under your bust. Ensure the tape is snug but not overly tight for an accurate measurement.
Waist
To measure your natural waist, find the narrowest part of your waistline. You can locate this by bending to one side; where your body creases is typically your natural waistline. Often, it's just below your rib cage. Don't be concerned if this seems higher than where you wear your trousers or jeans. This point is crucial for achieving a great fit. As you measure all the way around your torso, try to keep the tape measure parallel to the floor. This measurement is your natural Waist Circumference.
Hip
Stand with your heels together, and measure around the widest part of your hips, which is generally about 20 cm below your natural waistline. This measurement should include the fullest part of your buttocks and typically falls where your legs meet your torso.
Upper Arm
Position the tape measure around the broadest part of your upper arm, which is typically the bicep. Then, bend your arm slightly at the elbow. It's important to allow for this natural movement when measuring.
Shoulder to Bust Point
Start from the point where your shoulder meets your neck, and measure down along the front of your body to the tip (apex) of the bust.
Shoulder to Waist
For optimal results, mark your natural waist (the narrowest part of the waistline) with a ribbon, string, or skinny belt. Start from the point where your shoulder meets your neck and measure down, following the curve of your front body to the marker at your natural waist. It may be beneficial to have someone assist you with this measurement.
Shoulder to Knee
Begin at the point where your shoulder meets your neck, and measure down, following the curve of your front body to your natural waistline. Continue measuring down to your knee. For optimal results, it might be beneficial to have someone assist you with this measurement.
